I went out there today instead of Lakeshore, my usual destination. I have seen that hawk perched just off the trail (and also killing something on the ground in front of a crowd of people). Also stepped over a copperhead one day on the new trail across the creek.
Also one of my favorite spots! Every time I see one of those great blue heron feels like a gift. I've also seen many butterflies, and a copperhead snake right on the path! I wish we could have beautiful spaces like this in all neighborhoods, not just MB.
I agree 100% about accessibility, although I think the Freshwater Land Trust is working on that. And we did see two copperheads one time “in flagrante delicto” if you know what I mean!
I love your mindfulness. So many of God’s gifts out there to enjoy if we just use our senses.
I have never been on this trail but it seems lovely! I also can't wait to try out some more of these trails around Birmingham.
Definitely check it out! It’s full of nature and actually goes for several miles along the creek.

We’ve seen a couple of copperheads out there too! Where there’s woods and water, there’s always snakes! 😳😁
